After 99.98% of ballots have been counted, Ivo Josipovic’s advantage over Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic in Sunday’s presidential election has been additionally reduced, and according to a report by the State Electoral Commission (DIP) at 6am on Monday, the difference now is a slim 1.24%.
In the first round of elections on Sunday, Ivo Josipovic, the candidate of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP), won 38.46% of the vote, while Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic of the opposition Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) won 37.22%.
As for the other two candidates running for President, Ivan Vilibor Sincic won 16.42% and Milan Kujundzic 6.30% of the vote, DIP said in its preliminary election results.
DIP has processed returns from almost all polling stations.
The turnout was 47.14%, or 1,787,722 of a total of 3,792,638 eligible voters.
There were 98.44% of valid ballots and 1.56% of invalid ones, DIP said.
