Anamarija Musa, a lecturer at the law school of Zagreb University, and Sandra Krizanec, a journalist of the national broadcaster (HRT), were short-listed as the nominees for the first information commissioner by the Croatian parliament’s committee on the constitution and political system on Tuesday, and the parliament (Sabor) will have the final say in deciding who of them will be appointed for this duty.
All of seven members of the committee who attended today’s meeting voted for Musa, while five of them voted for Krizanec and two were against her candidacy in a secret ballot. Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) members of the committee were absent due to a meeting of the bench of this strongest opposition party.
Prior to this voting, the parliamentary media committee backed Krizanec’s candidacy. However, the committee on the constitution and political system today discussed the valid applications submitted by seven candidates and short-listed Musa and Krizanec.
