„Right to Good Administration in Croatian Practice

GONG is organizing conference „Right to Good Administration in Croatian Practice“ which will be held on 26th April (Friday) 9 am, at the International hotel in Zagreb. Presented at the conference will be the results of the Index of Good Governance in Croatia (DUH index), a research including analysis of all ministries, the Government, the Croatian Parliament and Government Offices.

Awards to most successful institutions will be presented by Mr Jurica Malčić, retired Croatian ombudsman and member of GONG Council.

Thematic panel session on several hot topics regarding good governance will follow the presentation of DUH index, with opening remarks from managers, policy makers and researchers:

• Proactive publishing of data – public investments within a hands reach;
• good governance in public agencies;
• transparency of the budget cycle and the public procurement system;
• search for a new, efficient model of managing conflict of interest

Closing debate „Trust is good, but control is better“ deals with challenges of public and civil oversight of public institutions, through media and civic activism as important tools in combating corruption and promoting good governance.

The conference will gather politicians, civil servants, experts, activists and journalists as well as international guests which will share their experiences and help us place local domestic practices in a wider regional and European context. Working languages of the conference are Croatian and English (simultaneous interpretation provided).
