A report on the implementation of legislation regulating the right to access to information which was submitted by the Central State Office for Administration to the Government last week, is lacking, inconsistent and tendentious, representatives of several nongovernmental organisations told a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.
ZAGREB, March 25 (Hina) – A report on the implementation of legislation regulating the right to access to information which was submitted by the Central State Office for Administration to the Government last week, is lacking, inconsistent and tendentious, representatives of several nongovernmental organisations told a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.
“The report assures us that the law is being respected and enforced, but the reality contrasts with it,” said Suzana Jasic, the leader of GONG.
The report contains 20 incorrect data and some information is missing. For instance, it fails to state that two journalists won court actions against the government and the finance ministry for having breached the reporters’ right to access to information, the GONG representative said.
NGO activists hold that the main problem lies with the lack of political will to publish certain information.
