ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) – Four nongovernmental organisations on Friday said that they would soon file a request with the Constitutional Court to assess whether the recently adopted law on golf courses conformed with the Constitution. The law, which elicited strong criticism among environmental protection organisations and some opposition parties, took effect on 1 January 2009.

The associations Transparency International Croatia, GONG and two green associations said that they would launch a procedure before the Constitutional Court by the end of January. They also called on members of the public to report whether they were directly affected by the enforcement of the law.

They also set up a Facebook group gathering proponents of the cancellation of the said legislation. Currently the group has over 1,200 members.
